Welcome

Ilustracný obrázok At European level, providing energy security and generating cleaner energy have become highly important problems. The climate changes, together with the reduction of functioning cost and the ecological impact of industry, demand the identification of innovative energy sources like non-fossil (regenerable) or neutral in CO2 emissions. In the same context, depositing urban waste demands the realization of ecological deposits. However, this solution is technically outdated. The newer solution is based on waste management by sorting and recycling. This project is focused on solving the present situation by using accurate waste management and energy generation solutions applied to Timisoara city.

Several possible technologies will be analyzed together with the implementation-feasibility study. This will be done in correlation with the European knowledge level, with the actual demand and offer and the real waste flux. The purpose is to generate-absorb cleaner electric energy and thermo-energy, obtained from waste in two seasons, summer and winter. This partnership brings together the beneficiary (Energy services company), research and project units and a commerce chamber for optimal national (and not only) dissemination. Also, there is a support agreement from the local authorities (City Hall and Waste collecting unity) concerning the thematic and the purpose of the research. A letter from the MAPPM underlines the appreciation and usefulness of the proposed theme.

The partnership research focuses on using the energy potential of waste by two possible methods. Direct incineration or gas transformation of the biodegradable components. Through common effort we will build and experiment (conception, projecting, realization, implementation) a semi-industrial pilot for gas generation on the platform of one of the partners (COLTERM SA). Incineration solutions will be tested and analyzed on an existing pilot which will be modified in order to be adapted to the goal.

The project accurately solves a waste management application for the urban area by determining the potential non-conventional energy fluxes coming from waste. The project is based on real experimentation of several incineration solutions and gas transformation methods and contributes to the evaluation of unused waste by considering different scenarios. Feasible case study solutions concerning waste management will be identified and used in the process of thermo-electrical energy generation. The project is based on finding solutions for incineration, gas and biogas transformation of waste using different methods followed by gas purification, according to legislation standards, and connection of the installation to the incineration equipments from CET Timisoara. All with the purpose of generating mainly electric energy. The solutions apply to the non-ecological deposits (which must be closed) and to the future deposits which do not have the capabilities of energy retrieval. There will also be a study concerning the possibility that the regenerable resource should be used by the local community, strongly affected by the presence of the non-ecological deposit (a true ecological bomb). With respect to the greenhouse effect gases which must be monitored and reduced by national strategy, it is shown that by this project CO2 and CH4 natural emissions are reduced (waste is part of CO2 neutral category). The project coordinator has a patent act concerning the incineration of different types of waste. This act covers the technology of incineration gases purification. There is also a patent request which will validate the biogas generation solution (gas from biomass waste), which can be expanded to a new solution submitted by project.
